STEP 01

Hardware Abstraction

Any BCI device connects through BrainFlow HAL. Raw EEG signals (μV-level) are captured at device-native sampling rates (256-1024 Hz).

STEP 02

Artifact Removal

Bandpass filtering (0.5-50Hz), notch filter (50/60Hz), and ICA-based artifact rejection. Signal-to-noise ratio improves 10-100x.

STEP 03

FFT & Band Power

256-point FFT decomposes signals into Delta (1-4Hz), Theta (4-8Hz), Alpha (8-13Hz), Beta (13-30Hz), and Gamma (30-50Hz) bands.

STEP 04

Cognitive State Inference

Our EEG Foundation Model maps band patterns to cognitive metrics: attention, cognitive load, relaxation, emotional valence — with 85-92% accuracy.

STEP 05

Real-time API Output

Decoded states stream via WebSocket in <5ms. Clean JSON with confidence scores enables adaptive UX, neurofeedback, and analytics.

How This Works

This demo runs a complete EEG signal processing pipeline in your browser. The engine synthesizes 8-channel EEG signals with physiologically accurate frequency content (Delta 0.5–4 Hz, Theta 4–8 Hz, Alpha 8–13 Hz, Beta 13–30 Hz, Gamma 30–100 Hz), applies a 256-point Hann-windowed FFT for spectral decomposition, extracts band powers using Parseval's theorem, and derives cognitive states from established neuroscience metrics (Beta/Theta ratio for attention, Alpha dominance for relaxation, frontal Theta for cognitive load). The same pipeline processes real EEG data from BrainFlow-compatible devices — only the signal source changes.
